Solera means ‘on the ground’ and is a process for ageing fortified wines in rows of barrels, with each row made up of many barrels. Wine moves from the top most rows to the bottom over many years before being bottled with the average age gradually increasing as the process continues over many years. Our Reserve Solera Tawny is a complex blend of young fresh port with aged softer material with the richness of Shiraz and the softness of Grenache. It has a classic dark caramel colour with aromas of spicy fruitcake and raisins on the nose leading into a palate of rich and intense ripe boiled fruit with aged flavours as a direct result of blending younger and mature wines.

Aleatico is a rarely planted red wine variety traditionally found in Elba, Apulia, Lazio and southern Tuscany in Italy and for nearly a 100 years in Australia. One of Napoleon’s favourite wines during his exile on the island of Elba, we are excited about being part of the revival of Aleatico wines in Australia.
Our Moscato style Aleatico wine is vibrant pink colour with lifted muscat aromas including turkish delight, rose water and gentle spicy notes. Ripe lychee fruit characters drive the wine’s palate with its medium weight balanced by a crisp and fresh finish.

Deep rich and dark, Aromas of liccorice and black earth are lifted by a vibrant red
rose character giving the aroma of this rich wine a lively lift. The deep earthy tannins follow on the
pallet and open up to a delicate rose finish, displaying all the characters of a great Nebbiolo with a
softer more velvet like finish.

The steeped stems Shiraz is an iconic cool climate style of shiraz. After removing all the stems from the bunches we soak them in hot water to remove any bitterness then dry them out and add them back into the fermentation. This adds a strong textural backbone to the wine and a delicate violet lift to the nose when first opened. As the wine breathes the violets give way to rich dark chocolate and a long lingering spicey finish of cinnamon, cloves and white pepper.
